Olympic Torch Day: Monday 21st May

The Olympic Torch is coming through North Devon on Monday 21st May, and will be coming right past Woody Bay Station. It will be travelling along the A39 past the station in a convoy of special vehicles, due to pass the station at about 14:45. It should be possible to see the convoy go past from the station lawns, or alternatively you may prefer to go to one of the local towns, to see the runners carry the flame through the streets.

Lyd: coal-fired with a nine coach train. Worth seeing!

New build L&B loco Lyd, has recently been converted to burn coal instead of oil. Steamed for the first time as a coal burner on Monday 12th December 2011- the first time for 75 years that a coal-fired L&B loco has been seen in operation since Lew hauled the L&B's last demolition train in the summer of 1936.

Summer Sunday and Bank Holiday Bus Service to Lynton & Lynmouth

Lynton and Lynmouth will be more accessible over the summer months now a bus company has agreed to create Sunday and bank holiday services from Barnstaple.

The 310 service from Barnstaple to Lynton, which is operated by Filers, will now have buses running four times a day on Sundays and public holidays until September 23.

The extra services will start on June 3, and will be entirely funded by Filers.

Devon County Councillor Andrea Davis has championed the idea and is delighted with the decision.
