Our annual end of main season event...

Portable Engine Vintage Vehicles

The event will take place on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th September, with trains running from 1000 - 1800 both days. Free car parking will be at Killington Lane, from where a shuttle bus will operate to Woody Bay Station. Limited parking will be available at Woody Bay Station for Blue Badge holders.

Entry to the event will be conditional on the purchase of a return train ticket at the entrance. Train fares will be the same as the usual standard fares listed on this website.

Attractions at this year's event will include:-

 

  • Intensive Steam Service
    Hauled by visiting Krauss 0-4-2T Sragi No 1 - this will be the locomotive's debut public appearance outside Statfold Barn.

  • At least 6 visiting road engines
    All in steam and working in the station forecourt at Woody Bay.

  • Real Ale & Cider
    A selection of the favourites from this year's Beer Festival Weekend will be on sale including Lundy Gold and Golden Pig.

  • Miniature Steam Traction
  • Barbeque & Tearooms
  • Trade Stands
    With stands from Exmoor National Park,. Discover Wistlandpound, Tarka Valley Railway, Bideford & Instow Railway and more. Plus lots of exciting new sales lines and merchandise on sale through the station shop!
Train tickets will be valid for unlimited travel on the day of purchase, however priority will be given on busy services to passengers who have not yet travelled.

Please note, it has been publicised in a small number of places that locomotive Sgt Murphy would be visiting at this year's event. Unfortunately this has not been possible on this occasion, however both railways remain keen on organising a visit for a future event.

Lynton Shuttle Bus

A free vintage shuttle bus will operate on both Saturday & Sunday from outside Lynton Town Hall to Woody Bay Station. Buses depart Lynton at 1000 and then hourly until 1700. Buses depart Woody Bay main car park at 1030 and then hourly until 1730.

Train Departure Times

1000hrs, and then on a regular 'turn up and go' basis throughout the day until 1800. The last return train from Woody Bay Station is expected to depart at around 1730.
