This is not intended to compete with the major studies of the L&B and neither is it the place to seek technical specifications or dimensions of rolling stock and station buildings. Instead, it focuses on an aspect of the Lynton & Barnstaple story often neglected by railway historians: the impact of the legendary line on those who dedicated their working lives to its operation and also on the wider community served by the L&B interesting.
The text, distilled from original sources by L&B Magazine editor Tony Nicholson is supported by several delightful L&B paintings and drawings by Eric Leslie who, probably more than any other artist, has captured the character of this very special railway.
