This was the first book ever written on the subject of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. First published only months after the railway closed, in March 1936, this book is now in its Eighth edition, published in 2005.

This newest edition has been improved by Oakwood, with the assistance of one or two very knowledgeable historians on the railway. The book now has even more previously unseen pictures and is undoubtedly the most historically accurate book on this subject on the market.
