We are sure all will be delighted to hear that the L&BR Trust has not only sold the property Fairview (naturally retaining the trackbed) to one of our supporters, but also recently purchased "Ivy Cottage" - just down the road from Fairview.
The main benefit of this purchase is that at the back of Ivy Cottage there is a significant section of the Parracombe Halt site and trackbed. It is intended that this will also be separated from the main property before that is sold on.
On Thursday the volunteers made a start on clearing the site.

Ivy Cottage garden area clearance.
Following the L&BR Trust’s recent purchase of Ivy Cottage, this week the volunteers were tasked with the clearance of rubbish and junk from the outbuildings on the old trackbed. This area is part of Parracombe Halt and after years of neglect the sheds were collapsing. Several skip loads of rubbish and scrap metals have now been taken off site.
1. The boundary fence by the lane is the original railway (L&B period) fence.
2. This has now been cleaned of the overgrowth of ivy around the posts.
3. & 4. The piles of scrap are moved away from where the old sheds were, ready to be taken off site.
5. Finally Ali Burgess - regular Thursday attendee - (who celebrated his 18th Birthday this week), tries out a ‘pink’ bicycle for size prior its loading into the trailer to be taken away.
