On Friday 23rd May,  Axe’s boiler was collected from Israel Newton & Sons Ltd of Bradford. The boiler is now alongside the locomotive in the Gartell Workshop. There is still much work to do, but it is hoped that the boiler and loco will be united soon.

The cab and tanks are nearly finished making the bodywork substantially complete, funds are still needed for the cab fittings, safety valves, pipework and other parts. The project remains on schedule for delivery early autumn, such that steam trials can be complete in time for the locomotive’s launch on Armistace Day, 11th November.
