North West Area Group attend Wigan Finescale Railway Modellers Exhibition

The L&B North West Area Group had an L&B display/sales stand at the recent Wigan FRM exhibition. This is now generally regarded as THE premier show in the North West of England. It attracts some superb model layouts from all around the country, and is extremely well attended. TV personality Pete Waterman was in attendance throughout both days, signing copies of his latest book on railway modelling, and clearly enjoying the various model displays.

The L&B stand attracted a lot of interest - as always - and we sold a record amount of L&B merchandise, as well as meeting some interesting and highly enthusiastic visitors.

We also had a record turnout of L&B members to help at the event so that, behind the sales table, we were able to hold impromptu Group meetings on both days, discussing (among other topics) what activities we should undertake in 2010. Some of our newer members had their first chance to meet and chat to others with an interest in the L&B. Several L&B members from further afield, including Cumbria, Yorkshire and North and Mid Wales, made themselves known to us as well.

Thanks are due to Peter Ainley, Gerry Crocombe, Roger Desforges, Steve Fletcher, David Prime, Stuart Robertson and Mark Simon for giving their time.
