Surrey Support Group at Amberley and Guildford - Two shows in two days!

Two Separate Shows attended over a Single Weekend

On both days over the weekend of 10th & 11th July, the Surrey Support Group had sales stands at two separate venues; the Steam Gala at the Chalk Pits Museum at Amberley, West Sussex and the Guildford Model Engineering Society Exhibition at Guildford, Surrey.  The stands at each venue were located in The Railway Hall and the Club House respectively.  Paul Gower and his books were at the Amberley Museum, but our other stock had to be shared between the two venues. Fortunately members came forward to enable us to provide adequate staff at both venues.

We were increasingly becoming concerned at Amberley on the Sunday morning, as unusually after the first 2½ hours we had only taken £2.50 in sales.  But luckily our fortunes turned as sales rapidly recovered during the afternoon.

Because we attended two shows, financially we had a very successful weekend.

Our enthusiasm to raise funds by regularly attending shows like these enables us to announce that the Surrey Support Group is to donate another sizeable sum of money to the heritage L&B Coaches being restored by the Essex Support Group.  An amount of £1500 has just been paid to support the project.  It is understood that our contribution will be used towards restoring the roof of Coach No. 17.
