With our regular Thursday reporter Nigel Thompson away for a few days, it fell to Graham Bendell to send in this Thursdays working party report.
A good turnout of volunteers saw several tasks being tackled around the station area. Trains were running, there was a steady flow of passengers and, as a bonus, the weather was slightly warmer than of late. Yet more roadworks on the A399 caused several volunteers to divert from their normal routes to get to Woody Bay.
The following photographs give a flavour of the days activities.
1.Rob Pym was on S&T maintenance duties around the station area.
2 Graham Varney refurbished part of the ex MOD wagon brake gear.
3. John Horsefield, Dave Bloomfield, John O'Dell and Martyn Budd were fencing and clearing up in the woodlands.
4. There were quite a few customers about. Train crew were Tony Cross driving and Dave Blencowe, Guard. Tim Gibbs uncouples the loco.
5. No spare seats in the mess room!
6. John Heys, John Villers and Richard Willey, making a welcome visit to torment his former colleagues, working out the levels for the new drain across the "garden" frontage of the station building.
7.Graham Bendell and John Heys trimming up the drainage trench ready for the installation of the grid drain next week.

In addition to the above, other activities included Dick Gunn continuing his signal post painting marathon. Judy Williams had a busy day in the kitchen, Dave Tooke was taking the money and Brom Bromidge did a litter pick on the A39 frontage (collecting an incredible one and a half black bags worth!). A good day all round.
