Surrey Group Show Report

This weekend marks the Surrey Group Exhibition Stand's last outing for this year. I would like to give many thanks to all those who have assisted with manning the stand during the year. At this point it is worth reflecting on our achievements for the year.

I was surprised to discover that we have actually attended ten shows this year. In addition to raising awareness of the L&B project in the South London Area, we have also been able to provide significant financial support to the developments at Woody Bay in the following ways:

Completion of the water tank project             £613

  Signal spectacle plate casting                        £117

  Safety Valves for Axe                                   £1000

  Toilet Block                                               £1000

So overall this year, as a result of attending rail shows, Surrey Group has been able to contribute almost £3000 in financial support towards the Railway. I believe that this is a record achievement for our group.

Many thanks also go to David Bradbury for pre-fabricating the tank roof in his garage in January and to Peter Jones and Nik Brown who joined David and myself at Distant Point, in order to complete the project in February this year. When someone asked me at the show yesterday what is it that the Surrey Group does besides attending these shows, I was able to point with pride to the picture of the completed tank and say we built that.

The Surrey Group Exhibition Stand will be on the road again in the New Year, starting with Brighton Model World on 13th to 15th February.

Wishing every one an enjoyable and relaxing festive season and lets make next year equally successful.
