Roadworks TriangleIndian Summer!

Our thanks to Nigel Thompson for this week's report. "Very warm sunny weather this week enjoyed by all the visitors and locals. The growth in passenger numbers continues…."

1. Another train returns to Woody Bay. The passengers begin to alight onto the busy platform before…..

2…… heading off to the tea rooms’ marquee for their refreshments. Today, most visitors enjoyed sitting outside.

3. AXE was today’s locomotive hauling the 3 carriage train past the new ex South African Railways Hopper wagons stabled in the loading dock siding.

4. A short break for the footplate crew - Pete Williams and Graham Varney - whilst visitors await the next train.

5. On the left, recently appointed L&BR Trustee Paul Curson was today assisting Guard Bob Ayres.

A variety of jobs for the Thursday gang regulars:

6. Alistair Burgess and Trevor Buck greased around all the moving parts of the pointwork - all part of the annual general track maintenance programme.

7. Dave Evans and Jim Price worked on the concrete signal cabinet door frame….

8. & 9. ….and finally fitted the new door.

10. Last but not least a final view of the re-sleepering gang up the line. After several weeks of hard graft by the Thursday volunteers, several sleepers have been replaced, keeping our permanent way in top condition in good time for next weekend's Autumn Gala which sees the return of LYD.
