Work in Progress - 29th November

A large team of volunteers is at work in North Devon this weekend.  The group comprises local members, plus a party from the Isle of Wight, and a further gang of Talyllyn members. The main job for the weekend is clearance of our land between Parracombe Lane and Cricket Field Lane, which will allow survey work to start here.

Many of the team actually started on Friday, with Saturday seeing well over 20 arrive for more cutting and clearing of scrub, brambles, gorse, buddleia, and various other weeds. We were fortunate to have a dry day, although temperatures were not much above freezing. The work, plus burning the rubbish, kept everyone warm.

Morning view, towards Parracombe Lane. The cutting has been infilled here, the original trackbed is about 15 feet below present day ground level.

View from Parracombe Lane, the bonfires are burning well.

The first section - almost clear

Removing a small tree on the side of the cutting.....               .....tree gone!

Clearing up as darkness falls - back for more tomorrow
