Devon Group's Christmas rail trip to Teignmouth

On Wednesday 14 December the Devon Group undertook their Christmas rail trip to Teignmouth for a seasonal meal at The Jolie Brise a Wetherspoons Pub. Ten started out from Barnstaple - a few more joined us at Exeter. The outing was a great success with a record 20 Members of the Devon Group attending and enjoying the Christmas meal.

Firstly a short ride to Tiverton Parkway

1. About to join the XC HST at Tiverton Parkway.

2. There were some doughnuts on offer. Unless Ali Burgess scoffed them first!

3. and 4. A nice quiet train here so everyone could sit together en route to Newton Abbot.

5. 6. & 7. Tables were booked so all of us could sit together.

After lunch it was time for a walk along the sea wall at Teignmouth.

8. Everyone poses including trip leader Nigel Thompson complete in his cycling high viz and Santa hat!

9. & 10. Train watching along the sea wall.

Some of the group broke away to find a pub in Dawlish, but eventually we regrouped for our train ride back to Exeter and onto the Exmouth branch as far as Lympstone.

11. More beer for all in The Globe Inn, Lympstone.

12. Finally, another stop-off for the remaining 'diehards' at Newton St Cyres.

A Present for Nigel

Thanks from all the travellers that have enjoyed Nigel's days out, plus experiencing all the local Wetherspoons. A gift to celebrate his visits to their pubs. Photo by Judy Williams.
