When the North West group of the L&B was first invited to the G Scale Society National Event in Stafford back in 2013, there was deep snow around, and further snow fell during the day. It was a good event, although inevitably attendance was reduced by the weather, and visitors did not linger.

By contrast, returning to the event at the Staffordshire County Showground (Sunday 23rd March) 2014, Peter Ainley, Bob Barnard and Ron Dumbell had an extremely busy day, all three of us being rushed off our feet talking to interested visitors, and selling L&B merchandise, until mid-afternoon when the show began to quieten down.

The NW group is currently contacting local members, to determine the level of interest for a forthcoming meeting in the NW area.  At Stafford, we were able to put faces to a few of the names on our list, as members introduced themselves.  In fact we met L&B members from all parts of the country (including Devon!), as well as handing out significant numbers of membership forms, and even meeting one visitor who was interested in the Rowley Moor Farm timeshare scheme. As at previous shows in our area, many were talking about arranging holiday visits to Devon, specifically to include a visit to the L&B to inspect the progress we have made.

The weather was cold but quite sunny this year, although our display of G Scale models did receive a brief cold shower as melting hailstones from an earlier heavy shower managed to find a hole in the roof!
