North West Group at Merseyside Model Railway Exhibition

Only a few days after Bob Barnard’s talk to the Ffestiniog Railway Group and Chester Model Railway Club, the North West Group had a display and sales stand at the Merseyside Model Railway Society’s annual exhibition in Wallasey, Wirral, on Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November 2015.

Bob and Peter Ainley manned the stand on Saturday, with Bob, John Berry and Stuart Robertson on Sunday.   A small static L&B model was displayed, and drew in a number of visitors.

It was very pleasant that several L&B members came and had a chat with us over the weekend, most expressing an interest in attending future L&B meetings in the area.

Bob met again some of those who had attended his talk earlier in the week, as they were showing Chester MRC’s new Irish County Donegal narrow gauge layout “Castlefinn” - the prototype station was only so named on one platform, the other being Castlefin! Another curiosity was that it was the customs post for passengers on trains crossing between Northern Ireland and the Republic!

The show was busy throughout the weekend, although quiet later on Saturday, as people left to attend Hallowe’en events (or to watch the Rugby on TV!).
