REMINDER - NW Area Group Meeting Saturday 5 March

The North West Area Support Group of the L&BR Trust is holding a meeting at the Friends Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS, from 2.00pm to around 4.30pm on Saturday 5th March. All members within reach of Manchester are welcome to attend.

Our speaker will be Paul Gower, a founder member of the L&B Association, as well as being a mine of information about all aspects of the L&B. Paul gave a couple of very informative and entertaining talks to us some years ago, and has offered this time to bring some archive documents about the line, and also no doubt part of his fascinating collection of photos, some of which are unpublished.

We also plan to have a brief report (with pictures) of the visit four of us made to Alan Keef's before Christmas to view progress with the 762 Club's "Lyn".

Tony Nicholson, the L&B Magazine editor, has posed us in the North West a challenge, hoping that our knowledge and local archive resources can provide the answer to a very interesting question. Come to the meeting to find out more!

Mount Street is in Manchester city centre, just behind the Central Library. Unfortunately, the nearest tram stop at St Peter's Square is currently closed, but there is a walking route from the Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop, and Piccadilly station is 10 min walk away.

We will ask at the meeting for voluntary donations towards the cost of hiring the room (other railway bodies using the venue suggest £3 or so per head).

We hope to see you at the meeting.

Bob Barnard
