How to Find Us

By Car

Woody Bay Station is located on the A39, half way between Blackmoor Gate and Lynton (a mile to the east of Parracombe). Postcode EX31 4RA.

From the M5, turn off at junction 27 (Tiverton) and follow the A361 ‘North Devon Link Road’ to South Molton. At the roundabout take the A399 towards Lynton and Combe Martin. At Blackmoor Gate, turn onto the A39 towards Lynton.

Woody Bay Station has car parking facilities and can also accommodate coaches on quiet days (coach drivers - please phone the station to confirm). During major events, additional parking is provided at Blackmoor Gate with a bus link - please contact the railway for more details.

By Rail

First Great Western

Barnstaple is the nearest rail station on the national network, this being at the end of the Tarka Line now operated by First Great Western. Services from Barnstaple go to Exeter where there are connecting high speed services to London, the Midlands and the South West. To get to Woody Bay Station from Barnstaple, you will need to take either the 309 or 310 bus from the bus station over the river bridge.


By Bus

Woody Bay Station is on the 300, 309 and 310 bus routes. All buses go to Lynton and Blackmoor Gate.

TW Coaches

Bus services on the 309 and 310 bus routes are operated by TW Coaches of South Molton. The 310 bus starts from Barnstaple Bus station and follows the route of the old railway via Chelfham and Bratton. The 309 bus also starts at Barnstaple however takes an alternative route via Shirwell.

Filers Travel

The 300 bus is a limited service which serves Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, Lynton and Minehead. Buses on the Ilfracombe - Lynmouth section of the route (via Woody Bay Station) are operated by Filers Travel.


By Air

Bristol International Airport Exeter International Airport

North Devon and Exmoor are an hour and a half away from Exeter International Airport, and two hours from Bristol Airport.

By car you can drive from either airport along the M5 to junction 27, then follow directions by road (above). By public transport from Bristol take the train to Exeter. From Exeter there is a direct train to Barnstaple which takes one hour. Then take the 309 or 310 bus from Barnstaple to Woody Bay Station.
