Roadworks TriangleShowers and Sleepers!

Although it's been a week or so what with galas etc, Nigel Thompson has once again provided this week's report of activities at Woody Bay.

"Autumnal showery weather today, after the recent Indian Summer sunshine which had helped to make the Gala such a success. Everyone on site was pleased to see the message of thanks from the management for all the assistance provided by the volunteers and staff before, during and after the recent amazing gala.

Although everything has quietened down now, there's still a railway to run and sleepers to change."

1. Firstly, Paint Shop Boys Barrie (on steps), Jim and Geoff are back in action finishing off more touching up repairs to the Brake Van.

Whilst the showers poured down outside, an inside shed job was undertaken by the Thursday Gang.

2. Some surplus ash and ballast was spread around the tracks inside the shed by the pit.

3. The gang pose for a moment after tidying the floor area here.

4. After lunch the gang went down (up) the line to resume the sleeper replacement programme. AXE runs past with today's 2 carriage train.

5. AXE coming back uphill - the gang having completed another sleeper swap.

6. Malcolm Kitchen and Anne Belsey in action fixing down a new sleeper as the rain fell.

7. Another train view of AXE (Driver Graham Bridge and fireman Dave Hallett) passing the gang. 5 sleepers were replaced this afternoon despite the challenging weather.
