Work in Progress: 24th August

Roadworks TriangleThe Bank Holiday Weekend is looming!

This week's report comes from Nigel Thompson:

Changeable weather all week has certainly brought the crowds of visitors to Woody Bay to enjoy the station and its surroundings as well as to undertake train rides or enjoy teas and cakes.

1. Dave Evans has had a busy week, acting as both Guard and Controller over several days. He also found time to do some weeding and platform tidying in between his other duties.

2. ISAAC brings the train back into Woody Bay Station.

3, 3a. Different work for painters Jim Pounds and Barrie Cann this week, as the repaired ballast hopper wagon is now in the paint shop ready for its repaint.

4. Freshly painted Drewry diesel PILTON is almost ready for service outside the shed today.

5. Claire Jeans drives "Little Ollie" along the L&BMR (Lynton and Barnstaple Miniature Railway).

6. Claire pauses " Little Ollie" for a lunchtime steam-up assisted by Rocky the dog.

7. Our Guards today are Jamie Ward (left) 'and Thursday regular Bob Ayres.

8. With the General Manager away driving on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, his chair in the mess room was kept warm at lunchtime by Ali Burgess - tucking into his sandwich.

9. The volunteers enjoying their lunch break with their usual good humour.

10. The view from the headshunt buffer stop as ISAAC approaches Woody Bay.

11. Visitors photograph the train from the classic location in the overflow Car Park field.

12. Several Thursday Gang members were down the line, sleeper changing near Killington Lane.

13. Another lineside view of ISAAC near Killington Lane.
