Roadworks TriangleLYN's Back and HEDDON HALL's front!

This weeks report is once again supplied by Nigel Thompson.

Following her impressive and successful visit to the Welsh Highland Railway in North Wales working with L&BR Manning Wardle new-build LYD, our own L&BR Baldwin new-build LYN, returned to Woody Bay to work the trains over the busy Easter weekend. The Sunday Funday was particularly well supported by many visitors and their families.

Meanwhile with all the resident locomotives present, there was some photo opportunities around the site to record the L&BR's varied fleet (included the recently repainted HEDDON HALL.

1. LYN at Woody Bay Station with today's two carriage train (No.s 16 and 11)

2. Regular Thursday Guard Bob Ayres.

3. Today's Driver Graham Bridge and Fireman Chris Klein.

4. New volunteer Guard Peter Kinash was being tested this afternoon - LYN runs round.

5. Hunslet diesel HEDDON HALL, after it's repaint last week, back in traffic already with an open DZ wagon outside the shed.

6. Dave Pratt and Tim Woods are cutting up old pallets for firelighting adjacent to HEDDON HALL here.

7. The water crane is a recent installation. Some backfilling around the tower was undertaken this morning.

8. LYN alongside the water crane.

9. Green Locomotives on shed...FAITH, HEDDON HALL, ISAAC and AXE.

10. The Paint Shop Boys (Roddy Haswell, Jim and Geoff) undertake some maintenance to carriage No.7.

11. The track gang braved the April Showers to resume more jacking and packing and tamping with the petrol  tamping machines.

12. Another gang were replacing sleepers.

13. With the train approaching the track gang stand aside.

14. A surprise birthday cake presented to Fireman Chris Klein at the afternoon tea break.
