Latest Arrival at Woody Bay

Just arrived this Saturday (12th April 2014) at Woody Bay Station is Bagnall loco CHARLES WYTOCK.

Purchased privately only last week by an L&B Member, the loco has not run since its rebuilding and the boiler has yet to be hydraulically tested as well as several other inspections carried out. Consequently the loco is not currently operational.

Railway Ramblers Visit Chelfham, 9th April

A large group of Railway Ramblers were on a series of organised visits in North Devon during the week.

On Wednesday 9 April, they arrived at the L&BR.  Starting first at Lynton, and having ridden on the L&B at Woody Bay, they relocated to Chelfham for more refreshments, a walk and tour of the site. Later they were able to visit the Exmoor Associates-owned site at Snapper, before moving on to Bideford to see remains of the Bideford, Westward Ho! & Appledore Railway.

Chelfham Station: Summer 2013

Anyone is free to inspect the restoration progress at Chelfham Station every Sunday from 10am. Just follow the signs from underneath the viaduct.

July 2013 - This occasional report is the latest recording the progress of the small group of volunteers, known as the 'Friends of Chelfham Station', and their restoration of the station building and maintenance of the station site. Although some several miles from Woody Bay and much nearer Barnstaple, Chelfham Station is still wholly owned by the L&B.
