Devon Group trip to Paignton and Totnes 24th April

From Barnstaple to Exeter then a quick trip up to Tiverton Parkway first for a nice cuppa from the friendly cafe.

1. This schedule allowed us to enjoy a southbound Cross Country HST back past Exeter as far Newton Abbot. Plenty of tables and room for everyone to sit together.

2. At Newton Abbot we assemble by a suitable poster ' Five create a Scene!

3. The local train to Paignton was this GWR Class 150.

4. Posing at Paignton. Lunch was at a nearby Wetherspoons.

5. Afterwards we returned to Newton Abbot to change again for another Cross Country HST as far as Totnes.

6. & 7. Time for a stroll along the wooded paths by the River Dart towards the town centre.

8. A cake and coffee break at The Old Bakehouse cafe in Totnes.

9. Returning from Totnes, we were pleased to sample another Cross Country HST back to Exeter.

Our trip today managed to miss out on the more 'modern' trains, with their cramped seating, lack of tables, and inevitable overcrowding such as the Voyagers and GWR IETs.

At Exeter we enjoyed a pint at The Imperial before our 17.57 train home to Barnstaple.

Our next trips: Wednesday 22nd May and Wednesday 26th June
