Devon Group trip to Seaton Tramway Sept 2017

Several L&BR Devon Group members enjoyed a rail/bus trip recently to Seaton for a visit to the Tramway and lunch at Colyford.

1. At Exeter waiting for our train. Time for doughnuts!

2. Car 12 at Colyton.

3. Lunch was at The White Hart Inn, Colyford.

4. Watching No.9 passing Colyford.

5. By special arrangement our return journey included a stop at Riverside depot for an organised tour. Thanks especially to everyone at Seaton Tramway for making this possible for our group.

6. We were shown all the trams ‘on shed’ including this works vehicle for maintenance of the whole system.

7. This is Tram No.4 from 1961 which is based on the famous Blackpool ‘Open Boat’ cars.

8. Back to Seaton terminus (about to be redeveloped) on Car 9.

9. Finally, time for an ice cream on the beach at Seaton. Then a bus back to Axminster. Trains to Exeter and Barnstaple including a beer stop for some of us at Newton St Cyres.

Our next trip is scheduled for Wednesday 18th October with Teignmouth and the Shaldon Ferry the option suggested at present. All welcome.
