Friday Wood Farm Workshop Update September 2019.

Be proud, be very proud!

Carriage No.5 has left the workshop and is now at Woody Bay to much cheering, rich acclaim, cries of ‘stunning’, ladies fainting and horses bolting!

It has been two months since the last EAST Group update due to all efforts being concentrated on completing Carriage No.5.

Our volunteer hours for July 2019 totalled 268 and for August an amazing 411. Wonderful work.

Congratulations to all our workers and volunteers.

Future Projects:

Our first duty will be the provision of spares to Woody Bay, where some components are suffering from service use as well as the effects of Devon weather.

Van 23: When Van 23 drawings are approved we will begin our building programme again. The drawings for Van 23's underframe have been sent to the Trust, where the details will be transferred to CAD and incorporated into drawings for Carriage 16 (Brake 3rd) underframe which already has provision for a Guards compartment and handbrake gear, modified as necessary for fitting oak outside facings to the underframe and supports for the van body.

Carriage No.1: We have started looking out the drawings and templates for Coach 1, the first jobs will be manufacture of components which will be assembled into larger modules for assembly into the coach body.
The Workshop front, now that the workshop is clear we are re-configuring to improve our facilities. A dust free area is being created for storage of painted components and the metalworking area is being extended
When we begin re-construction of Van 23 and subject to demand, we will be opening the workshop on Saturday mornings to allow those normally at work to enjoy our hobby. Let me know if you would like to join us?

Trust News: Bridge 54 now has its deck in place awaiting concrete, Bridge 55 abutments and bearing beams are in place. Another milestone in the re-building of the L&B. Click HERE for more photos and more details.

Note: The EAST stand will be in attendance at the L&BR Autumn Gala at Woody Bay 28th and 29th September 2019.
