The Somerset and Bristol Area Group (SABA) at Railwells

The Somerset and Bristol Area Group (SABA) recently provided a Lynton and Barnstaple Railway stand at Railwells, a regular yearly railway event at Wells Town Hall.

Chairman Mark Bladwell with the L&B Sales Stand.

Secretary David Edwards with the L&B Trust display stand.

The two day event was supported by two other group members, Maureen Wilson and Roger Davis.

I showed my 16mm Narrow Gauge Lyn loco and two carriages, both in original L&BR livery, just like the full size versions at Woody Bay.

Both stands attracted quite considerable interest, Mark had good sales during the weekend and I had my picture taken by the local press, although unfortunately this didn't make the Wells Journal edition.

Due to the loss of our meeting venue, it has been decided to cancel the regular monthly meetings in Wells for the time being and instead concentrate on meeting-up when there is a talk or a Christmas Social event.

We are hoping for a talk in November at a venue closer to Bristol, This will hopefully attract members from that area, followed by a social in December, venue to be decided.

Any new members are of course welcome, Please contact me by email for further details.
