Gala Update: Locomotive Change – 05/09/23

Sadly our gala visitor ' Welsh Pony' is unable to attend our Gala event on Sept 23rd / 24th. This is out of anyone's control and we thank our friends at the Ffestiniog Railway for the offer of this engine. Let's hope it will visit us in the future.

Good news is our Ffestiniog friends have again stepped in!!

We are proud to announce we will now have two visiting engines!

Hunslets ' Lilla' and ' Hugh Napier' - (shown in the photo from the Ffestiniog web site) .

Another example of how Heritage railways work together to solve problems. Thank you to Paul Lewin and the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway.

Chelfham Station - L&BR Gala

Chelfham Station, EX32 4RP, will be open both Saturday and Sunday of the Gala weekend 10.00-17.00.

All visitors can enjoy visiting the award winning Chelfham Station, seeing the restored station building, working signals, and now both platforms completely cleared of sheds and clutter finally giving the station its 1930s Southern Railway appearance.

A signposted trackbed walk north towards Bratton Bridge is also possible. As usual a limited range of refreshments of teas, coffees, savouries, cakes and biscuits will be available for cash donations. The secondhand bookshop with some L and B souvenirs will be open which now also includes a range of donated model railway items. All monies received over the weekend will go towards further restoration at Chelfham.
