As previously announced the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Trust (L&BRT) and the Barnstaple & Yeo Valley Railway Trust (B&YVRT) have stated their intention to work more closely together.
Today, 17th June 2026, Giles Perkins, Chair of the L&BRT and Bruce Knights, Chair of Trustees for B&YVRT signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Chelfham station to formalise roles and responsibilities between the two organisations.
This historic agreement sets a course of the joint development of the wider Lynton & Barnstaple Railway ‘project’ to accelerate the redevelopment of this world-famous narrow-gauge railway.
Giles Perkins, L&BRT said, “The signing of the MOU cements our commitment to working together for the benefit of the ‘project’, we look forward to collaborating and sharing resources and skills with our friends at the southern end of the railway.”
Bruce Knights, B&YVRT said, “ We can realise the shared dream of rebuilding this amazing lost railway, with both Trusts having clear remits to make it happen and a collaborative approach.”
