24th July, 2026
The L&BR Trust is pleased to announce that a planning application for an extension to the railway has been submitted to the Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA) today (Friday 24th July 2026). The documents can be viewed via the button below when they have been published by ENPA.
Following engagement with the local community through an Extraordinary Parish Council meeting in Parracombe, an open event at the village hall and one-to-one meetings with landowners and other interested parties, we have carefully considered the views and concerns of local people. In addition, we have also taken into account the advice from ENPA officers as expressed during the pre-application process.
The proposal is for an authentic recreation of the line from Killington Lane to Parracombe Halt with some minor additions to provide operational flexibility. It directly addresses the concerns raised by local people with a number of key changes and builds upon principles in the previous application which was approved by ENPA on 8th March 2018 but, for various reasons, not implemented.
We look forward to assisting ENPA, Parracombe Parish Council and the local community during the consideration of this application.
