Good News!
Major Lottery Application Granted. Our application bid to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport’s (DCMS) ‘Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage’ for financial support has been successful.
The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway has now received a grant of £79,300 to see us through the winter.
The ‘Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage’ was created by DCMS to help heritage organisations all over the country survive and recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 'Culture Recovery for Heritage’ grant will fund staff costs and essential overheads through to the start of the new season. The bidding process was reviewed and then delivered jointly by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and Historic England. Our thanks to Trustee Ian Cowling who pursued this particular grant funding for us.
The funds have to be spent by 31st March 2021 and the railway has put together an action plan for these sums which will be spent over the winter
L&BR chairman, Peter Miles, said: “With this support from the Department of Culture Media and Sport, the National Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England we can now be confident that we will still be in business next spring offering genuine heritage steam train rides across Exmoor recreating the legendary Lynton & Barnstaple Railway.
Together with the On Track Appeal and several other individual donations - we have raised a not inconsiderable sum, and we are still raising money to in pursuit of our extension to Blackmoor and beyond.
