National Highways Historical Railways Estates (HRE)

The Historical Railways Estate is a collection of over 3,100 structures and assets which were once part of Britain's rail network and are now looked after by Highways England on behalf of the Department of Transport

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Trust has a good relationship with HEHRE and the railway leases the land between Chelfham and Goodleigh Rd bridge from them which is currently managed by volunteers at Chelfham.

HEHRE also plan to carry out maintenance work on the parapets of Chelfham Viaduct this financial year.
