Progress at Chelfham

Progress at Chelfham today with the removal of the shipping container that has been used as a workshop and storage area for some of the L&BR's signalling equipment.

The container had been on site for 10 years and had provided a workshop, space and storage for restoration and refurbishment of some of the L & B's signalling equipment. Finally after a winter of working weekends helping to remove everything inside to store elsewhere on the railway, and some recent work to remove the shelving and electrics, Newberry Recycling arrived to lift the now life expired container away for scrapping.

This now revealed more of the up platform and with the original platform edging bricks surviving intact here, just a delivery of more road planings should complete this further section of the original platform.
