Visit to Woody Bay by the family of Gerald Chandler

Mar

Amongst visitors to Woody Bay Station on Saturday 4th March were Trevor and Shirley Butt, members of the family of the late Gerald Chandler. It was the most generous legacy left by Gerald to the L&B last year which permitted us to first purchase Fairview, and then Ivy Cottage, Parracombe. Trevor and Shirley were awarded a lifetime privilege pass in recognition of Gerald's pivotal contribution to the L&B.

L&B Trust Purchases "Ivy Cottage".

We are sure all will be delighted to hear that the L&BR Trust has not only sold the property Fairview (naturally retaining the trackbed) to one of our supporters, but also recently purchased "Ivy Cottage" - just down the road from Fairview.

The main benefit of this purchase is that at the back of Ivy Cottage there is a significant section of the Parracombe Halt site and trackbed. It is intended that this will also be separated from the main property before that is sold on.

On Thursday the volunteers made a start on clearing the site.

Heljan Manning Wardle LATEST

We are no longer taking reservations as pre-orders have now reached the number of models we are likely to receive from PECO

These long-awaited Heljan models are expected to be in stock by the end of March. Once they are delivered, we will make contact with those customers who have made reservations.

It was fortunate that the L&B was able to secure a small batch of each of the three models as the first batch (coming from China) is already sold-out via advance orders.

The L&B has the opportunity to have a batch of uniform buttons made as exact replicas of the original 25mm diameter version.

As well as being a very attractive and collectable item, they will also add the finishing touch to Guards, Porters, Drivers, Firemen, Station Masters and other staff uniforms.
