Footplate rides will be part of our standard service timetable and include a return journey from Woody Bay Station to Killington Lane approximately 20 minutes. Due to the size of the engine there will be one footplate passenger for each service. Pre-booking is recommended as it will be available on a first come first served basis.

Ticket price: £40.00 per person (Spaces are limited 1 per train service)

Ticket price includes footplate ride for chosen timeslot, safety briefing, photo opportunity with the engine and an all day ticket so you may be able to part in multiple journeys in one of standard class carriages.

We advise that footplate participants ensure to bring with them:

  • Enriched cotton overalls (not polyester as it melts) or clothes you don't mind being marked.
  • Layers of clothing will help you keep warm or cool as required.
  • An old coat would be useful if rain and/or wind is forecast.
  • Strong boots or shoes - preferably safety boots with steel toecaps.
  • Camera to record the day and take a group photograph (if you wish)

If family/friends of participant would like to travel as well they will need to purchase standard travel tickets and will be travelling in one of carriages behind the locomotive.
