The header photo this month is a little different. When the L & B closed in 1935, the day after closure, Captain Thomas Wolfe of Woody Bay provided a wreath of bronze chrysanthemums to be placed on the stop block at Barnstaple Town station, the dedication including the famous phrase “Perchance it is not dead but sleepeth”. The photo shows Captain Wolfe’s grave in Martinhoe churchyard.
