Today we undertook the final pegging out of a section of the railway's alignment south of the Old Station Inn, which starts north of Bridge 55 (an occupation bridge) down to Bridge 54 (at Pound Lane), in order to fence the area.
Following a competitive tendering excercise we are awarding a contract to a local contractor to enclose this important section of former line.
We have been liasing closely with our neighbouring landowner during both the initial surveying and today's final pegging out to ensure continued ease of access between fields. Our contractor will be adopting an access and construction methodology which will minimise impacts in and around the work area.
This is a significant milestone for the railway and cements our commitment to take care of our assets in readiness for future use.
We will of course post pictures on our website of the completed works.
