Mixed Traction Day success

Published: 21st May, 2026

Last Sunday saw our first ever Mixed Traction Day with all of our really useful engines out in servivce at Woody Bay. Lyn did the honours with our normal steam service but it was our dutiful diesels which were in the spotlight.

With Pilton in service to Killington Lane, our Hunslets on brake van rides and our newest addition 001 flitting about the station there was lots of rare traction on offer. Whilst Exmoor tried to do its worst with the weather we still had happy visitiors from near and far.

Huge thanks to all our volunteers for making this special event happen, to our staff for manning the tea room and to the garden railway team for running throughout.

As regulars will have noted we're mixing things up in 2026 with a few new events, maybe our diesels will break cover again in 2027?
