TrackForce, first year success

Our youth volunteer programme, TrackForce, has gone from strength to strength this year with our happy band of young people developing their skills, confidence and knowledge during 2026.

Saturday 10th October was the last TrackForce session of the season and saw the group finish their long-term project to relay the minature railway at Woody Bay with final ballasting, alignment and tamping before test running.

The group has grown over the year attracting new members and we've been genuinely impressed in how they've developed as individuals as well as gelling together. They've had experience on the footplate, undertaken guard duties and worked n the ticket office as well as completely the overhaul of the minature railway.

As part of the October session the group made a film of themelves talking about what they've learnt and enjoyed over the year which we will release as part of the Steam on the Moor series in the coming weeks.

TrackForce will restart in the 2027 season, so watch this space.
