Work weekend, trackbed news and Santa

Published: 23rd November, 2025

We are genuinely grateful to each and every one of our volunteers who helped with the first of this season's work weekends on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with 22, 28 and 21 volunteers attending each day respectvely.

As well as getting Woody Bay and Killington Lane ready for our hugely popular Santa services (which start with our Quiet Santa event on the 6th December) volunteer gangs cleared vegetation along the trackbed to Church Lane at Parracombe and around the halt in readiness for surveying in connection with the forthcoming extension planning application.

Using a combination of hand tools, strimmers and a hired 'robotic muncher' significant progress was made along the whole alignment with the bridge once again being visible from both sides of the lane.

In addition this week, further progress has been made with the fencing of the alignment south of Old Station Inn with post holes completed on most of the the eastern side of the alignment with installation starting next week.
