Santa at Lynton & Barnstape Railway

Wrap up warm and enjoy a delightful festive steam train ride!

Santa, and friends will be at Woody Bay Station each day from the 16th to the 24th of December leading up to the big day (Christmas Day) to welcome all the children. Plus see Woody Bay Station festively decorated for the season.

The Tearoom will be open every running day for both events from 10:00 till 16:00, serving a range of light refreshments including hot & cold drinks, festive cakes, warm pasties and sausage rolls, etc.

Along with our Tearoom our Station Shop will be open with a range of gifts available to purchase.   

Dates

Santa Specials Dates: 16th, 17th , 18th , 19th ,20th ,21st , 22nd ,23rd & 24th December (Christmas Eve)

Please be aware we will be closed between the 25th – 28th of December.

Times

Train Times From Woody Bay Station to Killington Lane are as followed:

10.45am - 11.30 - 12.15 - 13.30 - 14.15 - 15.00.

2 mile return journey (approximately 20 minutes)

Santa Specials Ticket Prices

  • Adult: £10.00
  • Student/Young Adult (aged 14-18 years): £6.50
  • Under 14's: free of charge when accompanied by a fare paying adult. (Includes a small gift from Santa to each child on the day.)
  • Family (2 adults & 3 young people): £30.00

Directions & Parking

We have a large free carpark available at Woody Bay Station, this includes disabled parking.

Buggies/Prams

We regret that due to space constraints, pushchairs and buggies cannot be accommodated on trains, however there is space for them to be left at the station at the owners’ own risk.

Dogs 

We are a dog friendly railway, well behaved dogs and their owners are more than welcome to attend our Santa Specials and New Year services. In addition, dogs travel FREE provided that their owners have purchased a ticket and other passengers do not object. We only ask that for reasons of hygiene dogs are not allowed in 1st Class compartments or on the seats in 3rd Class.

You can Pre-book tickets in advance via our website or on the day in person at our station shop.

Terms & Conditions for Santa Special & New Year Services

  • Tickets bought online are open tickets for that event and can be used on the day you have chosen to visit. For example your Santa Special ticket will be valid for a day of your choosing between the 16th and 24th of December. Then for our New Year services these tickets will be valid for a day between the 29th of Dec to the 1st of January.
  • During busy periods you may have to wait for the next available train departure to get a seat. However we will ensure each ticket holder participates in at least one return journey. We are expecting Christmas Eve to be a particularly busy.
  • We are unable to reserve seats, places will be available on a first come first served basis. 
  • Please be aware Santa and friends are not part of our New Year services, the children’s free gift will only be available leading up to Christmas.
  • Since these are special events, discounts like National Trust and The Old Station Inn will not be available.
  • In the event we need to cancel this special due to unforeseen circumstances for example adverse weather we will ensure to contact pre-booked passengers with options regarding their tickets.
  • Woody Bay Station will be open from 10:00- 16:00 each running day. Please ensure to check our timetable before travelling.
