Father's Day church services, Sunday 21st June

Published: 27th May, 2026

If you're planning to attend out Father's Day event on 21st June (details below) why not also reflect at St John's church, Lynmouth beforehand? Tim, one of our railway chaplain explains...

Wind the clock back many years and  we find that Mothering Sunday was usually celebrated by a visit to Church before going to see your mother. When Father's Day came along, there would have been many Dads who adopted the same sort of tradition, using the old Prayer Book, of course.

As one of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway's chaplains, I will preside over a traditional Prayer Book Communion once again, at 9am at St John's, Lynmouth. Everyone is welcome, Dads especially. I'll also celebrate the 11am Communion at Lynton Parish church that morning, but using a modern language service.

Both the railway and our churches celebrate the role that fathers play, often unappreciated but nonetheless vital in our changing world.

Come and join us!
