2026 AGM, elections and trackbed walk

This years’ Annual General Meeting will take place at Lynton Town Hall on Saturday 16th May 2026 starting at 6:00pm.

Please note the earlier start time to allow easier travel afterwards.

The meeting is only open to members and please note, you MUST bring your membership card to be admitted.

As is customary, we are holding elections for three Trust members and three Directors of the CIC who have come to the end of their term. We are particularly seeking nominees with the following skills and experience:

  • Treasurer - to allow succession planning in the L&BR Trust, knowledge and experience of charity financial requirements is essential.
  • Health and Safety - to lead board level H&S activities, applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant experience in railway and heritage rail sectors.
  • Planning - to lead Trust planning activities associated with our extension and associated programmes, professional experience in planning matters and ideally railways, is essential.
  • Environment - to lead work on our estate management and environment / ecology matters. Relevant professional experience is desirable.
  • Fundraising - to lead our fundraising activities working with our existing fundraising group. Experience in the charity sector is essential, with skills in heritage and railways desirable.
  • Project and risk management - to lead major projects and risk management. Professional experience is essential, experience in the rail sector is desirable.
  • Volunteer growth and wellbeing - to lead on growing our volunteer base and helping ensure their wellbeing. Practical knowledge of our volunteer operations is essential.

We have published background information in the required forms which can be downloaded below; these must be received by the company secretary by 10th April 2026 in order to be put forward for consideration by the membership. (Note: this is a hard deadline, signatures are required where stated and any late submissions will be discounted). Although documentation regarding the nominations can be posted to the registered office, prospective trustees and directors must have an active email address in order to verify their identity with Companies House. The appointment of any trustee or director is conditional on them having completed ID verification.

We would appreciate that members who are intending to stand also please let the secretary know in advance of your submission as it helps with us with planning the print run for members’ AGM paperwork.

We will also have an interactive information session between the usual AGM formalities, similar to that at our recent forum held last November.

Trackbed walk

In addition, we will also be holding a members trackbed walk from the Old Station Inn towards Wistlandpound to see the recently fenced alignment. There will be a nominal donation of £3 (cash only) for this event which will be at 2pm prompt on Saturday 16th May at the Old Station Inn, meet in the car park.

Please bring sturdy, waterproof footwear and be aware that the ground is uneven and can be waterlogged and muddy in places. The Trust does not accept any liability for any incident arising from members attending this event.
